## What it does

This hook inspects Vercel deployment health directly inside Claude Code. On `SessionStart`, it pings the Vercel API for the latest deployment and prints its current state: ready, building, queued, or failed, along with the live URL when available.

A second trigger, `PostToolUse`, runs whenever a bash command matches `vercel`, `deploy`, or `build`. The script parses the last five deployments, calculates the overall success percentage, and surfaces error URLs. If your success rate drops below 50%, the hook exits with error code 2.

Setup requires `VERCEL_TOKEN` and `VERCEL_PROJECT_ID` in your environment, plus `curl` and `jq` installed in your shell. Without these credentials, the monitor quietly skips checks.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **claude-code-templates**
```bash
npx claude-code-templates@latest --hook automation/deployment-health-monitor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.claude/settings.json` — The hooks block: event (PreToolUse, PostToolUse, Stop…) → command. Personal ones go to ~/.claude/settings.json

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/davila7/claude-code-templates/tree/HEAD/cli-tool/components/hooks/automation/deployment-health-monitor.json

## When to use it
- check the latest Vercel deployment status right as a session starts
- catch build and deploy failures immediately after running CLI commands
- track release success rates across recent deployments
- retrieve direct URLs to failed builds for quick inspection

## Example prompts
- Run `vercel --prod` and report the deployment health
- Execute `npm run build` and check if recent deployments succeeded
- Deploy the latest changes to production and check Vercel status
