## What it does

The command takes a timeline type — product development, market adoption, business transformation or competitive response — and maps its phases. Then it looks for parts that can be shortened without losing the point, and picks an acceleration factor. Critical milestones and dependencies stay in place.

Six steps sit inside: timeline architecture, compression strategy, a rapid iteration engine, confidence management, scenario multiplication and decision integration. The advanced side covers Monte Carlo acceleration and adaptive compression ratios. Tooling is plain: `Read`, `Write`, `Edit` and `WebSearch`.

The argument sets the timeline type: `--product-development`, `--market-adoption`, `--business-transformation` or `--competitive-response`. Skip it and the command has nothing to compress. You get back a timeline analysis with acceleration strategies, confidence assessments and an implementation roadmap.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **claude-code-templates**
```bash
npx claude-code-templates@latest --command simulation/timeline-compressor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.claude/commands/timeline-compressor.md` — Call it with /timeline-compressor. For all projects use ~/.claude/commands/

### Codex

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.codex/prompts/timeline-compressor.md` — Call it with /prompts:timeline-compressor. Codex marks this format deprecated in favour of skills

### GitHub Copilot

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/prompts/timeline-compressor.prompt.md`

### Gemini CLI

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.gemini/commands/timeline-compressor.toml` — Gemini stores commands as TOML: the prompt text goes into the prompt field

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/davila7/claude-code-templates/tree/HEAD/cli-tool/components/commands/simulation/timeline-compressor.md

## When to use it
- rehearse a market launch before the real one
- find phases you can shorten without dropping a milestone
- size up a decision's risks before committing
- compare several responses to a competitor's move
- split a business transformation into parallel cycles

## Example prompts
- /timeline-compressor --product-development
- /timeline-compressor --market-adoption
- /timeline-compressor --competitive-response

# Timeline Compressor

Compress real-world timelines into rapid simulation cycles for exponential learning acceleration: **$ARGUMENTS**

## Current Timeline Context

- Timeline type: Based on $ARGUMENTS (product development, market adoption, business transformation, competitive response)
- Original duration: Real-world timeline length and key phases
- Compression goals: Decision acceleration, risk exploration, learning speed, or option generation
- Critical milestones: Key events and dependencies that must be preserved

## Task

Implement systematic timeline compression with rapid iteration and decision acceleration:

**Timeline Type**: Use $ARGUMENTS to compress product development cycles, market adoption patterns, business transformations, or competitive responses

**Compression Framework**:
1. **Timeline Architecture** - Temporal structure mapping, dependency analysis, and compressible component identification
2. **Compression Strategy** - Methodology selection, acceleration factor calibration, and fidelity trade-off optimization
3. **Rapid Iteration Engine** - Micro, mini, and macro-cycle design with parallel processing capabilities
4. **Confidence Management** - Uncertainty quantification, risk-adjusted decision making, and validation systems
5. **Scenario Multiplication** - Exponential scenario exploration with interaction modeling and synthesis
6. **Decision Integration** - Acceleration optimization, validation frameworks, and strategic momentum creation

**Advanced Features**: Monte Carlo acceleration, scenario interaction modeling, real-time validation, and adaptive compression ratios.

**Learning Optimization**: Continuous improvement tracking, model refinement, and knowledge transfer for institutional capability building.

**Output**: Compressed timeline analysis with acceleration strategies, scenario outcomes, confidence assessments, and implementation roadmaps for exponential learning and decision advantage.
