## What it does

The command checks GitHub access, Linear MCP availability, Docker, webhook endpoints, database connectivity, queue services, and existing CI/CD files. Its arguments select full automation, webhook setup, monitoring, or a deployment target.

It can configure GitHub and Linear webhooks, event handling, scheduled syncs, queue management, sync state, database schema, backups, health checks, dashboards, alerts, and notifications. It may create GitHub Actions workflows and prepare deployment settings. GitHub and Linear MCP access are required for the prerequisite checks, along with reachable Docker, webhook, database, and queue infrastructure.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **claude-code-templates**
```bash
npx claude-code-templates@latest --command sync/sync-automation-setup
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.claude/commands/sync-automation-setup.md` — Call it with /sync-automation-setup. For all projects use ~/.claude/commands/

### Codex

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.codex/prompts/sync-automation-setup.md` — Call it with /prompts:sync-automation-setup. Codex marks this format deprecated in favour of skills

### GitHub Copilot

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/prompts/sync-automation-setup.prompt.md`

### Gemini CLI

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.gemini/commands/sync-automation-setup.toml` — Gemini stores commands as TOML: the prompt text goes into the prompt field

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/davila7/claude-code-templates/tree/HEAD/cli-tool/components/commands/sync/sync-automation-setup.md

## When to use it
- validate GitHub and Linear MCP access
- configure webhooks for synchronized events
- create CI/CD workflows and scheduled syncs
- prepare database state and backups
- add health checks and alerting

## Example prompts
- Set up the complete synchronization flow with `/sync-automation-setup --full`.
- Configure webhook handling only with `/sync-automation-setup --webhooks-only`.
- Add monitoring and a deployment target using `/sync-automation-setup --monitoring --deploy-target`.

# Sync Automation Setup

Setup comprehensive automated synchronization workflows: **$ARGUMENTS**

## Current Infrastructure State

- GitHub CLI: !`gh --version 2>/dev/null && echo "✓ Available" || echo "⚠ Not available"`
- Linear MCP: Check Linear MCP server availability and configuration
- Infrastructure: Docker, webhook endpoints, database connectivity, queue services
- CI/CD: !`find . -name ".github" -o -name ".gitlab-ci.yml" -o -name "azure-pipelines.yml" | wc -l` existing workflows

## Task

Configure production-ready automated synchronization with comprehensive infrastructure:

**Setup Mode**: Use $ARGUMENTS to specify full automation, webhooks-only, monitoring setup, or deployment target

**Automation Framework**:
1. **Prerequisites Setup** - Validate GitHub/Linear access, check infrastructure requirements, configure authentication, test connectivity
2. **Webhook Configuration** - Setup GitHub/Linear webhooks, configure endpoints, implement security, test delivery
3. **CI/CD Integration** - Create GitHub Actions workflows, setup scheduled syncs, implement event handling, configure deployments
4. **Sync Server Deployment** - Configure sync engine, setup queue management, implement error handling, enable monitoring
5. **Database & State Management** - Initialize sync databases, setup schema, configure backups, implement state tracking
6. **Monitoring & Alerting** - Configure dashboards, setup alerts, implement health checks, enable notifications

**Advanced Features**: Real-time webhook processing, intelligent conflict resolution, comprehensive monitoring, scalable infrastructure.

**Production Ready**: High availability setup, comprehensive error handling, performance monitoring, security implementation, automated backups.

**Output**: Complete automation infrastructure with webhook integration, CI/CD workflows, monitoring dashboards, and production deployment capabilities.
