## What it does

The command guides Claude Code through checks for WCAG 2.1 AA/AAA, keyboard access, color contrast, and ARIA. Its audit instructions also call for screen reader checks and automated tests. Automated results still need hands-on review; the command includes both approaches.

Examples cover semantic interactive elements, labelled form fields, error announcements, skip links, and focus management. The listed testing options include Svelte a11y warnings, axe-core integration, and Pa11y CI setup. The command can also help create an accessibility test suite and a WCAG compliance report.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **claude-code-templates**
```bash
npx claude-code-templates@latest --command svelte/svelte-a11y
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.claude/commands/svelte-a11y.md` — Call it with /svelte-a11y. For all projects use ~/.claude/commands/

### Codex

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.codex/prompts/svelte-a11y.md` — Call it with /prompts:svelte-a11y. Codex marks this format deprecated in favour of skills

### GitHub Copilot

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/prompts/svelte-a11y.prompt.md`

### Gemini CLI

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.gemini/commands/svelte-a11y.toml` — Gemini stores commands as TOML: the prompt text goes into the prompt field

   ```
   **Form Accessibility**:
   ```svelte
   <label for="email">Email Address</label>
   <input
     id="email"
     type="email"
     required
     aria-describedby="email-error"
   />
   {#if errors.email}
     <span id="email-error" role="alert">
       {errors.email}
     </span>
   {/if}
   ```
3. **Navigation & Focus**:
   ```javascript
   // Skip links
   <a href="#main" class="skip-link">Skip to main content</a>

   // Focus management
   onMount(() => {
     if (shouldFocus) {
       element.focus();
     }
   });

   // Keyboard navigation
   function handleKeydown(event) {
     if (event.key === 'Escape') {
       closeModal();
     }
   }
   ```
