## What it does

This command inspects repository changes and sprint tracking items to prepare daily standup summaries. It runs `git log` to extract author activity while verifying pull requests through the `gh` CLI. It also queries task progress via Linear MCP.

It accepts predefined arguments like `--yesterday`, `--last-24h`, `--since-friday`, or custom date strings. The resulting summary details contributor commits, review status, and blocked work.

Without an active Linear MCP server, task tracking synchronization fails and the output will cover only Git repository data. The command requires `Read`, `Bash`, `Glob`, and `Grep` execution permissions.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **claude-code-templates**
```bash
npx claude-code-templates@latest --command team/standup-report
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.claude/commands/standup-report.md` — Call it with /standup-report. For all projects use ~/.claude/commands/

### Codex

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.codex/prompts/standup-report.md` — Call it with /prompts:standup-report. Codex marks this format deprecated in favour of skills

### GitHub Copilot

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/prompts/standup-report.prompt.md`

### Gemini CLI

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.gemini/commands/standup-report.toml` — Gemini stores commands as TOML: the prompt text goes into the prompt field

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/davila7/claude-code-templates/tree/HEAD/cli-tool/components/commands/team/standup-report.md

## When to use it
- summarize git commits and active contributors by date
- synchronize sprint task progress through Linear MCP
- track blocked items and delay patterns in the sprint
- monitor pull request reviews and merge status

## Example prompts
- Run `/standup-report --yesterday` to summarize yesterday's code changes.
- Check team progress since the weekend with `/standup-report --since-friday`.
- Generate a 24-hour summary using `/standup-report --last-24h`.

# Standup Report

Generate comprehensive daily standup reports with team activity and progress analysis: **$ARGUMENTS**

## Current Standup Context

- Linear connection: Linear MCP server status and task synchronization
- Time range: !`date -d 'yesterday' '+%Y-%m-%d'` to !`date '+%Y-%m-%d'` analysis period
- Team members: !`git log --format='%ae' --since='1 day ago' | sort -u | wc -l` active contributors
- Repository: !`gh repo view --json nameWithOwner -q .nameWithOwner 2>/dev/null || echo "No repo context"`

## Task

Generate comprehensive standup report with team activity analysis and progress insights:

**Time Range**: Use $ARGUMENTS to specify yesterday, last 24 hours, since Friday, or custom date range for analysis

**Standup Report Framework**:
1. **Git Activity Analysis** - Extract commit activity, analyze code changes, identify contributors, assess impact scope
2. **Linear Task Progress** - Query task updates, analyze completion status, track sprint progress, identify blockers
3. **Pull Request Activity** - Review PR submissions, analyze review activity, track merge status, assess collaboration patterns
4. **Team Collaboration** - Analyze pair programming, code review participation, knowledge sharing, mentorship activities
5. **Progress Tracking** - Calculate velocity metrics, assess goal completion, identify trends, predict sprint outcomes
6. **Blockers & Impediments** - Identify stuck tasks, analyze delay patterns, assess resource needs, recommend solutions

**Advanced Features**: Automated activity categorization, progress visualization, trend analysis, predictive insights, team health scoring.

**Report Quality**: Actionable insights, clear progress indicators, obstacle identification, team coordination support, meeting efficiency optimization.

**Output**: Comprehensive standup report with team activity summary, progress metrics, blocker identification, and actionable next steps.
