## What it does

\`gws-slides` passes its arguments to the Google Workspace CLI and runs presentation operations. The `presentations` resource covers `create` for a blank deck with a given title, `get` for the latest version, and `batchUpdate` for one or more requests at once. If any request in a batch is invalid, the whole batch fails and nothing is applied, so inspecting the schema first is worth the extra step.

The command works through four stages. It checks prerequisites with `gws --version` and `gws auth status`, then inspects the method schema via `gws schema slides.<resource>.<method>` to learn the required fields. Next it builds the call using `--params` for query and path parameters and `--json` for the request body, with pagination handled by `--max-results` or `--page-token`. Finally it deals with errors: API quotas, rate limits, auth problems, and retries on transient failures.

You need the Google Workspace CLI installed and authentication already configured. The command allows Bash, Read, Write and Edit, so the agent can both read and modify files. It also expects `../gws-shared/SKILL.md` for auth, global flags and security rules; if that file is missing, `gws generate-skills` creates it.

## Requirements
- Works with: Google Workspace

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **claude-code-templates**
```bash
npx claude-code-templates@latest --command google-workspace/gws-slides
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.claude/commands/gws-slides.md` — Call it with /gws-slides. For all projects use ~/.claude/commands/

### Codex

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.codex/prompts/gws-slides.md` — Call it with /prompts:gws-slides. Codex marks this format deprecated in favour of skills

### GitHub Copilot

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/prompts/gws-slides.prompt.md`

### Gemini CLI

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.gemini/commands/gws-slides.toml` — Gemini stores commands as TOML: the prompt text goes into the prompt field

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/davila7/claude-code-templates/tree/HEAD/cli-tool/components/commands/google-workspace/gws-slides.md

## When to use it
- create a blank presentation with a specific title
- pull the latest version of a deck by its ID
- apply several slide edits in one batch request
- check a method schema before calling it to avoid wrong fields
- sort out auth failures and API quota errors

## Example prompts
- /gws-slides presentations create --json '{"title":"Q3 review"}'
- /gws-slides presentations get --params '{"presentationId":"<id>"}'
- /gws-slides presentations batchUpdate --params '{"presentationId":"<id>"}' --json @updates.json

# Google Workspace Slides

Execute Google Workspace Slides operations: $ARGUMENTS

## Prerequisites

- Google Workspace CLI (`gws`) must be installed
- Authentication configured: Run `gws auth status` to verify
- Review `gws slides --help` for all available commands

## Available Resources and Methods

# slides (v1)

> **PREREQUISITE:** Read `../gws-shared/SKILL.md` for auth, global flags, and security rules. If missing, run `gws generate-skills` to create it.

```bash
gws slides <resource> <method> [flags]
```

## API Resources

### presentations

  - `batchUpdate` — Applies one or more updates to the presentation. Each request is validated before being applied. If any request is not valid, then the entire request will fail and nothing will be applied. Some requests have replies to give you some information about how they are applied. Other requests do not need to return information; these each return an empty reply. The order of replies matches that of the requests.
  - `create` — Creates a blank presentation using the title given in the request. If a `presentationId` is provided, it is used as the ID of the new presentation. Otherwise, a new ID is generated. Other fields in the request, including any provided content, are ignored. Returns the created presentation.
  - `get` — Gets the latest version of the specified presentation.
  - `pages` — Operations on the 'pages' resource

## Discovering Commands

Before calling any API method, inspect it:

```bash
# Browse resources and methods
gws slides --help
# Inspect a method's required params, types, and defaults
gws schema slides.<resource>.<method>
```

Use `gws schema` output to build your `--params` and `--json` flags.

## Usage

```bash
# List available resources and methods
gws slides --help
# Inspect method schema before calling
gws schema slides.<resource>.<method>
# Execute command with arguments
gws slides $ARGUMENTS
```

## Task

Execute the requested Slides operation: $ARGUMENTS

1. **Verify Prerequisites**
   - Check `gws` is installed: `gws --version`
   - Verify authentication: `gws auth status`
   - Review available commands: `gws slides --help`

2. **Inspect Method Schema**
   - Before calling any method, inspect its parameters
   - Use `gws schema` to understand required fields
   - Review parameter types and constraints

3. **Execute Operation**
   - Build command with appropriate flags
   - Use `--params` for query/path parameters
   - Use `--json` for request body
   - Handle pagination with `--max-results` or `--page-token`

4. **Error Handling**
   - Check command output for errors
   - Review API quotas and rate limits
   - Handle authentication issues
   - Retry transient failures
