## What it does

What it does

\`build` takes markdown files that already sit in your project and scaffolds a VitePress site around them. The pages have to exist first — `/deep-wiki:generate` produces them, or you write them by hand. The command lays out folders, config, theme and content.

A `wiki/` directory appears with `package.json`, `.gitignore`, `index.md`, `llms.txt` and `llms-full.txt`. There is also an `onboarding/` folder holding four guides aimed at different readers: contributor, staff engineer, executive and product manager. Numbered sections follow — `01-getting-started`, `02-architecture` and so on.

A landing page without marketing

\`index.md` is a technical home page, not a promo. No `hero:` blocks, no taglines, no call-to-action buttons. Instead you get a short project description, a Quick Start block with real commands from the repo, an architecture diagram in Mermaid with source citations, a documentation map table, a key files table and a tech stack summary.

Config and theme

\`config.mts` is wrapped in `withMermaid()` from `vitepress-plugin-mermaid` and gets `ignoreDeadLinks: true` — wiki pages point at internal source paths. Inter and JetBrains Mono load through the head link, and the mode is dark only: `appearance: 'dark'`. The sidebar is generated dynamically from the section structure, with the ONBOARDING block first and expanded.

Mermaid receives a full set of dark `themeVariables`: background `#0d1117`, nodes `#2d333b`, borders `#6d5dfc`, text `#e6edf3`.

## Requirements
- Works with: Azure

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.claude/commands/build.md` — Call it with /build. For all projects use ~/.claude/commands/

### Codex

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.codex/prompts/build.md` — Call it with /prompts:build. Codex marks this format deprecated in favour of skills

### GitHub Copilot

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/prompts/build.prompt.md`

### Gemini CLI

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.gemini/commands/build.toml` — Gemini stores commands as TOML: the prompt text goes into the prompt field

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/microsoft/skills/tree/HEAD/.github/plugins/deep-wiki/commands/build.md

## When to use it
- Turn finished markdown wiki pages into a static site
- Get a dark theme and dark Mermaid diagrams without hand-tuning
- Add click-to-zoom for diagrams and images
- Make a technical home page instead of a promo landing
- Split documentation into numbered sections with a sidebar

## Example prompts
- Build the VitePress site from the wiki pages with `/deep-wiki:build`
- Pack the finished markdown files into a site with a dark theme and diagram zoom
- Make the wiki home page technical — no hero block, no buttons

# Deep Wiki: Build VitePress Site

Package the generated wiki markdown files into a complete VitePress site with a Daytona-inspired dark theme, dark-mode Mermaid diagrams, and click-to-zoom for diagrams and images.

## Prerequisites

The wiki markdown files should already exist (from `/deep-wiki:generate` or manual creation). This command scaffolds the VitePress project around them.

## Step 1: Scaffold VitePress Project

Create a `wiki/` directory with this structure:

```
wiki/
├── package.json
├── .gitignore
├── AGENTS.md                          # Agent instructions for wiki folder
├── CLAUDE.md                          # Companion pointer to AGENTS.md
├── index.md                          # Wiki home page (NOT a placeholder — see below)
├── llms.txt                          # LLM-friendly links + descriptions
├── llms-full.txt                     # LLM-friendly full inlined content
├── onboarding/                        # Audience-tailored onboarding guides
│   ├── index.md                       # Onboarding hub with guide selector
│   ├── contributor-guide.md           # For new contributors (assumes Python/JS)
│   ├── staff-engineer-guide.md        # For staff/principal engineers
│   ├── executive-guide.md             # For VP/director-level leaders
│   └── product-manager-guide.md       # For product managers
├── {NN}-{section-name}/              # Numbered section folders
│   ├── {page-name}.md
│   └── ...
├── .vitepress/
│   ├── config.mts                    # Full VitePress config
│   ├── public/
│   │   ├── logo.svg                  # Brand logo
│   │   ├── llms.txt                  # Served at /llms.txt on deployed site
│   │   └── llms-full.txt             # Served at /llms-full.txt on deployed site
│   └── theme/
│       ├── index.ts                  # Theme setup (zoom handlers)
│       └── custom.css                # Complete dark theme + Mermaid + zoom CSS
```

### index.md — Wiki Landing Page (CRITICAL)

The `index.md` MUST be a developer-focused wiki home page — **NOT a marketing landing page**. No `hero:` frontmatter blocks, no taglines, no call-to-action buttons. This is a technical wiki, not a product page.

Generate `index.md` with this structure:

```markdown
---
title: Project Name — Documentation
description: Technical documentation for Project Name
---
# Project Name
Brief 1–2 sentence description of what the project does technically.
## Quick Start
\`\`\`bash
# Clone, install, run (actual commands from the repo)
git clone <repo-url>
cd <repo>
npm install && npm run dev
\`\`\`
## Architecture Overview
\`\`\`mermaid
graph LR
  A[Component A] --> B[Component B]
  B --> C[Component C]
\`\`\`
<!-- Sources: src/app.ts:1, src/server.ts:1 -->
## Documentation Map
