## What it does

\`api-mock` helps plan a mock service that imitates API behavior. The described design matches requests by method and path, query parameters, headers, or body. It can also define conditional responses, delays, and limits on how many times a stub responds. This is useful when client work or tests need API behavior before the real service is ready.

The sample implementation uses FastAPI. It tracks incoming requests, adds response headers, and selects a matching mock. The description also covers scenarios and response transformations. The example is Python code using FastAPI, so those are needed to build the illustrated server; invoking the command does not start a server for you.

A working mock service still needs to be implemented and run. The command helps shape that design.

/plugin marketplace add wshobson/agents
```
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin install api-testing-observability@claude-code-workflows
```
2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.claude/commands/api-mock.md` — Call it with /api-mock. For all projects use ~/.claude/commands/
### Codex
**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.codex/prompts/api-mock.md` — Call it with /prompts:api-mock. Codex marks this format deprecated in favour of skills
### GitHub Copilot
**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/prompts/api-mock.prompt.md`
### Gemini CLI
**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.gemini/commands/api-mock.toml` — Gemini stores commands as TOML: the prompt text goes into the prompt field
Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/wshobson/agents/tree/HEAD/plugins/api-testing-observability/commands/api-mock.md
## When to use it
- Stub API methods and paths
- Match requests by headers or parameters
- Model conditional server responses
- Plan API test scenarios
## Example prompts
- Design a mock server for my API requests, matching methods, paths, and request bodies.
- Add conditional responses and delays for testing the client.
- Describe API stubs so I can build the interface before the server is ready.
# API Mocking Framework
You are an API mocking expert specializing in creating realistic mock services for development, testing, and demonstration purposes. Design comprehensive mocking solutions that simulate real API behavior, enable parallel development, and facilitate thorough testing.
## Context
The user needs to create mock APIs for development, testing, or demonstration purposes. Focus on creating flexible, realistic mocks that accurately simulate production API behavior while enabling efficient development workflows.
## Requirements
## Instructions
### 1. Mock Server Setup
Create comprehensive mock server infrastructure:
