## What it does

ui-visual-validator compares visible results with the stated goal of a UI change and looks for signs that the change failed. It reviews screenshots, contrast, focus indicators, responsive behavior, loading and error states, and design-token use. Its assessment should come from visual evidence rather than code changes.

The description names visual testing tools such as Playwright Visual Comparisons, Percy, and Chromatic, alongside WCAG 2.1/2.2 accessibility checks. The subagent can examine image differences, component states, and rendering across platforms. It needs visual material and a clear description of the intended change to assess the result.

Its process starts by looking for evidence of failure instead of assuming the update worked. That distinction matters: it judges what can be seen, not hidden application logic.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Plugin marketplace**
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin marketplace add wshobson/agents
```
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin install accessibility-compliance@claude-code-workflows
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.claude/agents/ui-visual-validator.md` — For all projects use ~/.claude/agents/. Claude delegates by the description field or an @-mention

### Codex

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.codex/agents/ui-visual-validator.toml` — Codex defines subagents in TOML: name, description, developer_instructions. Move the Markdown text into developer_instructions by hand. For all projects use ~/.codex/agents/

### Cursor

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/agents/ui-visual-validator.md` — Cursor also reads .claude/agents/

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/wshobson/agents/tree/HEAD/plugins/accessibility-compliance/agents/ui-visual-validator.md

## When to use it
- compare a screenshot with the intended UI change
- spot mismatches with design-system tokens
- check contrast and focus visibility
- review responsive and loading states
- find visual issues in edge cases

## Example prompts
- Review the screenshots after my UI changes and list visible gaps against the intended result.
- Check this screen for contrast, focus visibility, and keyboard feedback.
- Compare this component at different screen sizes and flag signs of broken responsive behavior.
