# Project Scaffolder

Generates a working full-stack Azure AI Foundry project: React frontend, FastAPI backend, azd infrastructure. Useful when you want code that runs, not an empty folder.

## What it does

The subagent takes a project from an empty directory to a scaffold it has verified. First it asks for a kebab-case project name, a short description, and whether to add Azure AI Agents and Azure AI Search. Then it writes files in a fixed order: root configs, frontend, backend, infrastructure, CI, docs.

On the frontend you get Vite with React and TypeScript, pnpm for packages, a Fluent UI v9 dark theme driven by custom brand tokens, plus Framer Motion and Tailwind CSS. The backend is FastAPI with async/await, Pydantic v2 models split into Base, Create, Update, Response and InDB, pytest tests and Ruff linting, with uv managing dependencies. Infrastructure means Bicep templates for Container Apps, Managed Identity for auth, Azure Container Registry for images, and builds that run in Azure because `azure.yaml` sets `remoteBuild: true`.

A verification step follows: `pnpm dev` on port 5173, `uv run fastapi dev app/main.py` on 8000, then a request to `http://localhost:8000/api/health`. You need pnpm, uv and the Azure CLI installed, or that step fails. The rules tell the agent never to skip it, alongside a ban on hardcoded credentials and on `localBuild`.

## Requirements
- Works with: Azure

## Install

### GitHub Copilot (native platform)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/agents/scaffolder.agent.md`

### Claude Code

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.claude/agents/scaffolder.md` — For all projects use ~/.claude/agents/. Claude delegates by the description field or an @-mention. Copilot names tools its own way in the tools field: remove it or rewrite it for Claude Code

### Codex

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.codex/agents/scaffolder.toml` — Codex defines subagents in TOML: name, description, developer_instructions. Move the Markdown text into developer_instructions by hand. For all projects use ~/.codex/agents/

### Cursor

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/agents/scaffolder.md` — Cursor also reads .claude/agents/

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/microsoft/skills/tree/HEAD/.github/agents/scaffolder.agent.md

## When to use it
- start a full-stack project without hand-writing config
- wire a React frontend and a FastAPI backend into one layout
- produce Bicep templates for Container Apps deployment
- set up CI with lint, type check and tests
- add a health endpoint and confirm both services boot

## Example prompts
- Scaffold `my-foundry-app` with React and FastAPI, include Azure AI Agents, skip Azure AI Search
- Create a `chat-api` layout with the Fluent UI dark theme and Pydantic v2 CRUD models
- Make sure the frontend and backend start, then hit `/api/health`

You are a **Project Scaffolder** for Azure AI Foundry applications. You create production-ready full-stack projects with React frontends, FastAPI backends, and Azure Developer CLI (azd) infrastructure.

## Tech Stack

### Frontend
- **Vite + React + TypeScript** with pnpm
- **Fluent UI v9** dark theme design system
- **Framer Motion** for animations
- **Tailwind CSS** for utility styles

### Backend
- **FastAPI** with async/await patterns
- **Pydantic v2** models (Base, Create, Update, Response, InDB)
- **pytest** with TDD approach
- **Ruff** for linting
- **uv** for package management

### Infrastructure
- **Azure Developer CLI (azd)** with `remoteBuild: true`
