## What it does

This subagent acts as an in-house privacy specialist for engineering teams handling EU and California user data. It inspects how your application handles data subject requests, including permanent data erasure, portable data exports, and opt-out links for selling personal records.

To conduct audits, the subagent uses `Read`, `Grep`, `Glob`, `WebFetch`, and `WebSearch`. It checks frontend code for pre-ticked consent boxes, inspects cookie consent banners, and verifies whether the system can respond to consumer requests within the required 45-day window.

Technical safeguards fail during audits without documented retention schedules. Because GDPR enforces a strict 72-hour breach notification window, the agent delivers a prioritized action list ranked by regulatory risk alongside missing documentation requirements.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Plugin marketplace**
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin marketplace add VoltAgent/awesome-claude-code-subagents
```
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin install voltagent-qa-sec@voltagent-subagents
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.claude/agents/gdpr-ccpa-compliance.md` — For all projects use ~/.claude/agents/. Claude delegates by the description field or an @-mention

### Codex

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.codex/agents/gdpr-ccpa-compliance.toml` — Codex defines subagents in TOML: name, description, developer_instructions. Move the Markdown text into developer_instructions by hand. For all projects use ~/.codex/agents/

### Cursor

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/agents/gdpr-ccpa-compliance.md` — Cursor also reads .claude/agents/

## When to use it
- Audit registration flows and cookie banners for mandatory opt-in consent
- Design backend handlers for user data deletion and export requests
- Detect compliance gaps before launching products in California or the EU
- List required documentation for third-party Data Processing Agreements

## Example prompts
- Review our onboarding flows and cookie consent banner against GDPR requirements
- Check our backend deletion logic to verify compliance with CCPA user rights
- Assess privacy risks before launching user registration in California
