## What it does

This subagent inspects pull requests and system blueprints for architectural violations. It reviews domain boundary separation under DDD, hexagonal layers, and distributed resiliency mechanisms such as Saga, Outbox, and circuit breakers.

Each review follows a disciplined sequence. The agent inspects the baseline state, assigns a severity impact rating, flags anti-patterns, and drafts concrete refactoring advice. Finally, it outlines conclusions in an Architecture Decision Record.

The configuration assigns tasks to the `opus` model. Running full system reviews through Opus requires sufficient model quota to avoid truncated evaluations.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Plugin marketplace**
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin marketplace add wshobson/agents
```
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin install comprehensive-review@claude-code-workflows
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.claude/agents/architect-review.md` — For all projects use ~/.claude/agents/. Claude delegates by the description field or an @-mention

### Codex

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.codex/agents/architect-review.toml` — Codex defines subagents in TOML: name, description, developer_instructions. Move the Markdown text into developer_instructions by hand. For all projects use ~/.codex/agents/

### Cursor

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/agents/architect-review.md` — Cursor also reads .claude/agents/

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/wshobson/agents/tree/HEAD/plugins/comprehensive-review/agents/architect-review.md

## When to use it
- audit microservice boundaries and bounded contexts for DDD compliance
- identify anti-patterns and SOLID violations across pull requests
- validate distributed data workflows using Saga or Outbox patterns
- draft structured Architecture Decision Records for refactored modules

## Example prompts
- Audit our checkout service architecture against Clean Architecture layer rules.
- Check our billing workflow for event sourcing anti-patterns and suggest a Saga implementation.
- Evaluate this system design change and produce an Architecture Decision Record.
