## What it does

This subagent inspects outbound emails and chat drafts. It highlights ambiguous phrasing and flags emotional risks before you hit send. To structure feedback, it applies What-Why-How along with Situation-Behavior-Impact concepts. When reviewing presentation outlines, it checks the flow and audience clarity.

During roleplay sessions, the coach acts as your counterpart. It mimics realistic pushback and doubt. The persona stays guarded throughout the chat. It will not yield to a single polite phrase. Once the exercise finishes, the coach explains what worked.

The agent relies on `sonnet` with `Read`, `Glob`, and `Grep` tools. Crucially, it only provides advice. It never dispatches messages or rewrites source files autonomously.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **claude-code-templates**
```bash
npx claude-code-templates@latest --agent business-marketing/communication-excellence-coach
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.claude/agents/communication-excellence-coach.md` — For all projects use ~/.claude/agents/. Claude delegates by the description field or an @-mention

### Codex

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.codex/agents/communication-excellence-coach.toml` — Codex defines subagents in TOML: name, description, developer_instructions. Move the Markdown text into developer_instructions by hand. For all projects use ~/.codex/agents/

### Cursor

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/agents/communication-excellence-coach.md` — Cursor also reads .claude/agents/

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/davila7/claude-code-templates/tree/HEAD/cli-tool/components/agents/business-marketing/communication-excellence-coach.md

## When to use it
- audit a sensitive email draft for defensive language and weak phrasing
- simulate a tense conversation with a teammate before the real talk
- calibrate message formality when contacting senior leaders
- verify whether a presentation outline answers audience questions

## Example prompts
- Review this draft message to my lead about missing a project milestone and suggest edits.
- Roleplay as my colleague who resists taking on extra on-call duties so I can practice.
- Check my outline for the technical demo and confirm whether the What-Why-How flow works.
