# code-documentation-code-reviewer

A code review subagent that hunts for vulnerabilities, performance bottlenecks and configuration mistakes. Useful when changes head to production and you want a second pass.

## What it does

The subagent runs as a separate reviewer on the `opus` model. It reads pull requests and writes comments using code context, not just the diff. It claims support for AI review tools (Trag, Bito, Codiga, GitHub Copilot) and static analysis: SonarQube, CodeQL, Semgrep, Snyk, Bandit. Dependency checks go through `npm audit` and `pip-audit`.

Security gets its own section: OWASP Top 10, input validation, authentication and authorization, SQL injection, XSS and CSRF, secret management. Performance sits next to it — N+1 query detection, memory leaks, caching strategy, connection pools. Configuration review covers Kubernetes manifests, Terraform, CloudFormation and CI/CD pipelines.

Language coverage is broad: JavaScript and TypeScript with React and Vue, Python with PEP 8, Java and Spring, Go, Rust, C# and .NET Core, PHP. The description asks you to run the subagent proactively for quality assurance. One caveat: the source file is truncated, so check the repository for the full rule set.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Plugin marketplace**
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin marketplace add wshobson/agents
```
In the agent chat (not a shell):
```text
/plugin install code-documentation@claude-code-workflows
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.claude/agents/code-reviewer.md` — For all projects use ~/.claude/agents/. Claude delegates by the description field or an @-mention

### Codex

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.codex/agents/code-reviewer.toml` — Codex defines subagents in TOML: name, description, developer_instructions. Move the Markdown text into developer_instructions by hand. For all projects use ~/.codex/agents/

### Cursor

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/agents/code-reviewer.md` — Cursor also reads .claude/agents/

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/wshobson/agents/tree/HEAD/plugins/code-documentation/agents/code-reviewer.md

## When to use it
- catch SQL injection and XSS before merge
- audit Kubernetes and Terraform manifests for unsafe settings
- spot N+1 queries against the database
- scan dependencies for known vulnerabilities
- review a pull request and leave inline comments

## Example prompts
- review this pull request for vulnerabilities and performance issues
- review `src/api/handler.ts` — focus on security and error handling
- run static analysis on the branch changes and write up a report
